I am to state that one round of Pulse Polio Immunization (PPI) campaign will be held on 17-01-2021 (Sunday). Government of India has planned nationwide campaign in all States in order to sustain Polio Free Status. About 40,000 immunization booths will be established in Anganwadi Centres, Government Hospitals, Primary Health Centres and in other important places. Tranait booths will be also set up at Bus Stands and Railway Stations to cover mobile population on the campaign days. Mobile booths are also functioning on campaign days to cover remote / inaccessible areas. Besides Public Health Department staff, approximately 2 lakh personnel are being drawn from various departments for this Mega Campaign. About,70 lakh children of under 5 years are expected to be benefited by this programme. The salient features of the Campaign includes • All children in the age group (0-5) years should be given 2 drops of polio vaccine. Even if a child was immunized recently under routine Immunization schedule, the child should be given polio drops on the campaign days also. • Day-1 17.01.2021 (Sunday) Booth based and House to House coverage with all COVID-19 appropriate behavior by the staff and public. Day-2 18.01.2021 (Monday) House to House coverage with all COVID-19 appropriate behavior by the staff and public. Day-3 19.01.2021 (Tuesday) House to House coverage with all COVID-19 appropriate behavior by the staff and public.
Bus stand Booths, Railway booths, Toll Plaza Booths will function for three days from 17.01.2021 to 19.01.2021. • Oral Polio Vaccine will be administered on 24 x 7 basis in all Government Health facilities for 7 days from 17.01.2021 to 23.01.2021 (Sunday to Saturday). Polio vaccine is safe, effective and it can be given any number of times. No child is safe unless all children get vaccinated on Campaign days. Any unvaccinated children may spread the disease to other children. • Even a healthy child may become susceptible for polio virus if the child is not immunized on campaign days. Hence I request you to kindly instruct your CEOS/District Education Officers to extend fullest support to the distriet health authorities and involve themselves by providing manpower and other logistic support atleast for 3 days for the forthcoming PPI campaign so as to ensure 100 % coverage without omission of a single child. I also request you to propagate the above PPI message among student and teaching community especially during prayer timings with a request to propagate the message to their friends and relatives and see that they also voluntarily participate in the PPI campaiga to the posslble extent.
